Similarities and Differences of These Amazing Popes
Pope Francis was born on December 17, 1936 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was baptized three days later on December 25, 1936. He has two brothers and two sisters. He got his education at Milltown Institute of Theology and Philosophy. Pope Francis loves soccer, his favorite soccer team is Argentina’s San Lorenzo. He became pope on March 13, 2013. He is the 266th Pope. He chose St. Francis of Assisi, he cared about the poor and the sick. Pope Francis lives this life and lives by the Golden Rule. He was the first Pope to address the U.S. Congress. Pope Francis’ mass in the Philippines had over 6,000,000 people there. Another interesting fact is he likes to pray the psalms and speaks 4 different languages.
St. John Paul II was born on May 18, 1920 in Wadowice, Poland. He died on April 2, 2005 in Apostolic Palace, Vatican City. His successor was Pope Benedict XVI. He was the first Italian pope in the last 400 years. His mother, brother, and other died. He visited over 100 countries. He said “Do Not Be Afraid” repeatedly. One of my Favorite quotes from him is “The future starts today, not tomorrow.” He has many other inspiring quotes from him. When St. John Paull II was shot by the assassin, when he came out of the hospital he went to the assassin and forgave him. Another interesting fact is he's spoke 12 different languages, his was in the Philippines had 5,000,000 people attending.
Similarities between Pope Francis and St. John Paul II is they both tried to end abortion, both of them weren't Italian, they both visited the United States, they speak different languages, they loved Jesus, the poor, and children, they cared about the sick, they lived by the beatitudes and most importantly they both lived by the Golden Rule! They care about everyone in need and wanted to leave a big impact on the world.
